Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - After an urgent plea for help in finding two missing children, word came from Buffalo Police late Tuesday morning that the girls were located safely in an apartment on Langfield Drive.
The girls were identified as 7-year-old Nova-Rayne Lilley, and 12-year-old Ariyah Brown.
They are being evaluated for any injuries.
Buffalo Police thank the public for their response, which ultimately led to a positive result.
Both children were last seen traveling by foot on Main and Utica Streets Monday evening.
In a news conference, Chief of Detectives Craig Macy said the girls were living at Child and Family Services on Delaware Avenue. Police received a 911 call Monday evening from the facility that the girls were missing.
Police utilized K-9 units and drones in an attempt to find the girls.
An Amber Alert was not issued, despite sub zero conditions in Western New York.
"Certain criteria needs to be met," said Macy. "Some framework has to be met before an Amber Alert can be issued. We are one step below that," he added.
"There is no information that they are with an unknown third party, or that they are in danger, outside of the fact that there is a weather concern."
Buffalo Police were working with the NFTA, Cheektowaga Police and the Erie County Sheriff's Office on this case.
