Orchard Park, N.Y. (WBEN) - In an effort to, what one person said, "may jog the tree," the new Highmark Stadium lead construction team - Gilbane | Turner - is now offering a $100,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest of a person, or persons, responsible for various rounds of vandalism and graffiti on the $2.2 billion new home of the Buffalo Bills.
In the latest discovery - found Monday morning - several pornographic images were painted - along with other forms of vandalism - in various parts of the stadium include suites, locker rooms and other key locations.
All of the graffiti was within the stadium's interior.
Because of the damage and an investigation - led by the Erie County Sheriff's Office - work has largely been paused since Monday, although construction re-started Wednesday in portions of the stadium not impacted by the vandalism.
"Personally, I'm annoyed and disappointed," said Paul Brown, president of the Buffalo Building and Construction Trades Council.
Brown feels the reward money may be enough to bring forward key bits of information.
"Let's face it, $100,000 is a lot of money," Brown said.
More than 1,300 workers remain on site - as crews are on a three shift, seven days a week construction schedule.
The investigation is focusing on 300 second shift workers who were at the stadium site on Feb. 15.
The stadium along Abbott Road - located just across from the current Highmark Stadium - is more than 87% complete and even with this winter's harsh weather and, now the vandalism, it remains on pace to be completed by this summer and before the start of the 2026 NFL season.
It is believed, whoever is responsible for the vandalism may have had a connection to one of the teams working on the stadium because much of the damage was done in portions where tight security is in place and workers need either a swipe card or fob to enter.
"If that is the case, then I'm very annoyed," Brown said.
