Hamburg, N.Y. (WBEN) - Hamburg Police has identified the officer who pulled the trigger in the fatal officer-involved shooting of a Jamestown woman back on Feb. 2 in a home along McKinley Parkway.

Police says Officer Sean Gregorie, a six-year veteran of the department, was the one who fired his weapon that ended up striking and killing 36-year-old Lisa Haight of Jamestown.

Officer Gregorie was among three officers who responded to the original call of a home burglary in progress on that Friday to a house on Willet Road. The officers then proceeded to a house at 3043 McKinley Parkway, where they found a back entrance door to be open.

The police announce their entry into the residence and find the house to be ransacked with "items spewed about."

Upon searching the dimly-lit house, they found Haight in the bathroom behind a shower curtain, naked and appeared to be attempting to cut herself with a knife.

After verbal commands to drop the knife using police de-escalation techniques, Haight was eventually persuaded to drop the knife and two officers attempted to take her into physical custody using handcuffs.

As the officers were struggling to control Haight, she made stabbing and slashing movements with the object she picked up after she stepped out of the bathtub against them. This included direct stabbing motions that struck one officer in the leg, and a slashing motion near and across his face.

All three officers responding to the scene believed she was holding a knife, which prompted Officer Gregorie to fire his sidearm. Of the three shots he fired, one struck Haight in the chest and the other two rounds in each leg.

The officers claim the encounter took place within very tight quarters in a narrow hallway with poor lighting conditions. It was later discovered that multiple electric breakers were turned off, which was believed to be by Haight.

In the moments before breaking into the home on Willet Road, Haight was involved in the stabbing of a passenger in a van while they were riding together on the New York State Thruway. That victim suffered serious injuries.

All three officers have since been interviewed by the New York State Attorney General's Office, and all three continue to cooperate in the investigation. It is anticipated the results of the investigation will not be released for some time.

Officer Gregorie remains on paid administrative leave, which is standard police procedure following an incident of this nature.
