Lancaster, N.Y. (WBEN) - A concerned parent whose comments went viral two weeks ago plans to speak up again at Monday night's Lancaster School Board meeting over LGBTQ+ curriculum concerns. She says she may not be alone this time around.

Adrienne Gummo called out the Lancaster Board of Education after her daughter was corrected on an LGBTQ+ quiz assignment about the definition of gender. Her comments received more than 1.2 million views on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Since then, Gummo says it's been radio silence from the district.

"I have not received an email or phone call. I'm hoping they address this topic, as there are more-and-more parents now being made aware of this controversial curriculum that that has been brought to their attention," said Gummo in a recent interview with WBEN.

Gummo expects many more parents to be in attendance on Monday, as some of them are expected to speak up.

"I do know there are some that are going to be speaking in support of what I said, also voicing that they do not want this curriculum taught to their child," Gummo said.

She adds other parents may be upset the board has not brought up a policy allowing parents to opt their child out of content within a curriculum.

"I really had to do some digging through all of Lancaster's policies to find that, so I think once parents know, they will want to speak on that as well, and go to the board to have their child opted out of this curriculum," Gummo said.

Gummo has heard rumblings about parents wearing armbands to the meeting with the letters HMP, "High Maintenance Parent", which Gummo says she was labeled when she expressed concerns when her children were in elementary school.

"Many parents now are labeling themselves HMP, as they're taking it to say if it's standing up for your child and your child's education means that you're high maintenance, and please call me one as well," Gummo noted.

As for whether she'll wear an armband, she will if given one.

"I will happily label myself that if it shows my child and the community that I care about what my student, what my child is learning, and that I care about my child's education and that I'm involved," Gummo added.

Monday's meeting is at 7 p.m. ET at the Lancaster High School Auditorium.
