Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - As Nardin Academy emerges from an academic year full of controversy and angst within the school community, a decison has been made to start from a clean slate and remove the entire board of trustees for the private school.

"After much prayer and discernment," a letter from the Society of the Daughters of the Heart of Mary to the school community provided to WBEN begins. "We believe that the best way forward is to replace the current board and to immediately elect a new Board of Trustees that will be committed to partnering with the community to bring about healing."

Throughout the current academic year, the Nardin Academy has been the subject of internal discord which led to the termination and resignation of members of the faculty and demonstrations led by students on the campus.

Most recently an agreement was reached for the current Nardin President, Sandre Betters, to leave the school effective June 30 along with 9 board members who had called for her ouster.

"We are heartened by Monday's announcement that a newly constituted board will soon help to chart the course for Nardin Academy," a statement from Daniel and Leslie Keane reads. "And It is very clear the Daughters of the Heart of Mary spent a good deal of time discerning before making a difficult yet necessary decision.

We are committed to working collaboratively with others for the renewal of a school we deeply love and support. We are confident in the resilience of the Nardin Community and look forward to a new day as the academy recommits to its mission to inspire hearts and minds to do amazing things for the world through faith, character, academic excellence, and service."
