Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Congressional candidate Carl Paladino is calling out NY23 opponent Nick Langworthy on claims dark money has run campaigns to smear his record and Langworthy's claims former President Trump endorsed him.
Paladino claims Langworthy is desperate and "it was discovered that he lied to voters about having the endorsement of President Trump, which is NOT true. Now, a dark money group, likely funded by Never Trump donors, based in Washington DC is falsely smearing my business record."
Langworthy responded, "It's funny Carl has been hiding from the press for two weeks, he has refused my calls to debate and is had a full blown temper tantrum in front of the entire press corps." Langworthy says does not really appear to be a candidate that's winning this race.
As for Paladino's claim Langworthy has said he has Trump's endorsement, "I'm very proud of my relationship with President Trump, I talk to him on a very regular basis. I respect the fact that he has friends on both sides in this and that is not the focus of our campaign," says Langworthy.
Langworthy says Paladino's being held accountable for his record. " He has to answer to everything in his record, and that's why many people, including those very close to him, urged him not to run for Congress," contends Langworthy.
The primary is August 23rd.
