Warren, P.A. (WBEN) - Just reaching over a week into the investigation, police believe they are closing in on locating Warren County Prison escapee Michael Burham.
Law enforcers believe that they have located a stash of food, clothing and supplies that belonged to Burham, abandoned in a wooded area near Warren.
"They've [police] been finding these different stockpiles in the search, And I think that's one of the indicators for them that he is around," said NewsNation reporter Dray Clark on WBEN Friday morning.
"They're asking people, yes, to check your their Ring cameras, because they're really trying to use any resource available to get them closer to where he is. But they are very adamant that they do believe that he is still in the area. This section of northwestern Pennsylvania, it's nestled around hills there's a very vast forest, the Allegheny National Forest. So, there's a lot of land to cover here. But for some one reason or another, they still believe that they are on the trail and they believe they're closing in."
For residents of Jamestown and surrounding areas, they now have to subscribe to the "new normal" according to Clark.
"This is the kind of town, up until now, where people didn't really lock their doors at night. You know, they're not accustomed to having these kinds of problems. They don't lock their doors at night, they leave their keys in the car when they go into the convenience store. So this is a new normal for them. However, they are listening to the investigators listening to the police, and as a precaution, they're doing everything that's recommended, they're locking their doors, windows."
