Buffalo, NY (WBEN) The Buffalo Sabres return home after a successful road trip, and will celebrate Tage Thompson's Olympic victory prior to Tuesday's game vs. Vegas.
Anna Stolzenburg says there will be a four minute ceremony to honor Thompson. "We'll give him his his flowers for his gold medal win. We have rally towels for every fan that has TNT on it with a gold medal on it, so all the fans will be waving the rally towels while page is at center ice," says Stolzenberg.
Stolzenburg says Thompson had a request after Jack Hughes asked him to be part of his ceremony in New Jersey. "Tage talked to us and wanted to make sure that both Jack Eichel and Noah Hanifin on the Vegas Golden Knights who played for team USA. So we're going to Tage is going to have his moment, and then we're going to make sure that those two come out and get a picture with all of Team USA, the gold medal winners at center ice," adds Stolzenburg. Also being honored will be General Manager Jarko Kekalainen as Finland won bronze, and the Sabres' team masseuse who was the team masseuse for Team USA.
Stolzenburg says it's a great time to be in KeyBank Center with the team hopefully continuing to play so well and on a push for the playoffs. "Energy's going to be amazing, the gold medal homecoming game is almost sold out, so I would say definitely get your tickets soon, if you haven't already for these upcoming games, because they're all selling at a great pace," urges Stolzenburg. Among the upcoming themes are high school hockey, women in sports day, but she prefers to let the team speak for itself and continue to push here towards the playoffs.
The Sabres are in second in the Atlantic Division.
