Wet, humid weather lingers Monday before giving way to mainly dry 4th of July

"Very humid weather will continue through much of the week."

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - It was a weekend of dodging rain showers across Western New York and the soggy and humid conditions will linger through Monday before making way for a mainly dry 4th of July.

"Another couple rounds of rain and thunderstorms will occur through this evening, with heavy rain and the potential for isolated flooding," National Weather Service forecasters in Buffalo say. "Weak high pressure will then build into the area on the Fourth of July, with a return to mainly dry weather."

Scattered showers and some thunderstorms are in the forecast mix for Monday, however there is little chance of any severe storms for the Buffalo-Niagara region, forecasters say. "Humidity will remain with us this period, with temperatures this afternoon closer to normal in the upper 70s, while tonights' lows in the low to mid 60s will be with a muggy atmosphere."

The chance for a pop-up thunderstorm or two are not out of the question across inland portions on Independence Day, however the day should be mainly rain-free. The dry weather continues into Wednesday with warm and humid conditions.

While Monday evening fireworks may still be soggy, Independence Day shows should be largely dry.
