
Amherst, N.Y. (WBEN) - A 14-year-old student at Sweet Home High School has been arrested for his role in making a bomb threat that led to a lockdown of the school last week.
The Amherst Police Department responded to a reported incident last Monday at Sweet Home High School that placed the school in a lockdown. Officials said there was a call of a potential shooter in the bathroom of the school at the same time the bomb threat was called in.
Police and the district worked together to investigate the reported threat, resulting in no reports of injuries to any student or staff at the school.
As a result of the investigation, the 14-year-old student was charged with Making a Terroristic Threat and Making a Threat of Mass Harm.
In addition, the 14-year-old was charged with two counts of Arson in the second degree and two counts of Criminal Mischief in the second degree for involvement in unrelated incidents.
The student was transported to Erie County Family Court. Due to the age of the offender, no further information will be released at this time.
