Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Despite ongoing challenges tied to rising demand, staffing shortages and funding gaps, Western New York's nonprofit sector continues to grow in size and scope.
The eight-county region is home to 232 nonprofits with revenue of $2 million or more. These nonprofits report a combined revenue of $3.8 billion, and employ nearly 62,000 people, according to Buffalo Business First's 2024 Million-Dollar Nonprofits analysis.
These 232 nonprofits are part of an annual research report that examines financial data from tax filings for hundreds of nonprofit corporations across the region, each with revenue of at least $2 million in the 2022 fiscal year, the most recent fiscal year for which complete data is available.
