In the most recent indictment against former President Donald Trump, the U.S. Department of Justice alludes to but does not name six co-conspirators who allegedly aided him in efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

While some news outlets have appeared to reveal most of the co-conspirators, the identity of one remains elusive. Who could they be?

Per the DOJ, Trumps co-conspirators are described as:

“An attorney who was willing to spread knowingly false claims and pursue strategies that the Defendant’s 2020 re-election campaign attorneys would not.” CNN identified this co-conspirator as lawyer and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

“An attorney who devised and attempted to implement a strategy to leverage the vice president’s ceremonial role overseeing the certification of the presidential election.” CNN identified this co-conspirator as lawyer John Eastman.

“An attorney whose unfounded claims of election fraud the Defendant privately acknowledged to others sounded ‘crazy’. Nonetheless the defendant embraced and publicly amplified the co-conspirator’s disinformation.” CNN identified this co-conspirator as Sidney Powell.

“A Justice Department official who worked on civil matters and who, with the defendant, attempted to use the Justice Department to open sham election crime investigations and influence state legislators with knowingly false claims of election fraud.” CNN identified this co-conspirator as Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark.

“An attorney who assisted in devising and attempting to implement a plan to submit fraudulent slates of presidential electors to obstruct the certification proceeding.” CNN identified this co-conspirator as lawyer Kenneth Chesebro.

The final co-conspirator is described as “a political consultant who helped implement a plan to submit fraudulent slates of presidential electors to obstruct the certification proceeding.” CNN said the identity of this co-conspirator is unclear.

The Washinton Post also identified the co-conspirators as the people mentioned above.

Who is co-conspirator 6?

What is known about this mysterious co-conspirator is that they are tied to fake electors in Pennsylvania, said CNN.

“Specifically, the indictment alleges that this person sent Co-Conspirator 1 – Giuliani – an email identifying lawyers in the six swing states who could assist in the phony elector effort,” said The Washington Post.
“It claims the person participated in a conference call about the effort in Pennsylvania and circulated language for that state’s certificate. On the night of Jan. 6, this co-conspirator looked for senators’ phone numbers for Giuliani to call in an attempt to further delay certifying the electoral votes, according to the indictment.”

By Wednesday evening, The New York Times had also collected some clues indicating the co-conspirator is strategic adviser Boris Epshteyn.

“An email from December 2020 from Boris Epshteyn, a strategic adviser to the Trump campaign in 2020, to Mr. Giuliani matches a description in the indictment of an interaction between Co-Conspirator 6 and Mr. Giuliani, whose lawyer has confirmed that he is Co-Conspirator 1,” said the report.

It also said that Todd Blanche, a lawyer for Mr. Epshteyn, declined to comment. So did Peter Carr, a spokesman for the special counsel Jack Smith.
