New Orleans (WBEN/AP) - It will be weeks before power is restored to much of the New Orleans metro area following the devastation of Hurricane Ida.

Power companies are working to assess the power grid and begin a monumental restoration effort as residents sort through belongings and adjust to life in the dark and heat of a New Orleans summer.
