Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Extreme wind is in the forecast Saturday with winds expected to be in the 25 to 35 mph range through much of the daytime with gusts to 60 mph possible at times.

High Wind Warnings are posted for the Buffalo metro area and surrounding counties and Wind Advisories are posted for Cattaraugus and Allegany counties.


Rain showers are expected Saturday with temperatures toping out in the low 50's.

HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM THIS MORNING TO 5 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON
* WHAT...Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected.
* WHERE...Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Northern Erie, Genesee, and Wyoming counties.
* WHEN...From 7 AM this morning to 5 PM EST this afternoon. Winds will be strongest between 10 AM to 1 PM.
* IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines.
Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines.

Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
