Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - All those new Mother's Day flowers and plants will have to wait just a little bit longer for warmer outdoor and planting conditions.
The big chill continues across the Buffalo and Western New York region, but an end is in sight in the forecast.
While chilly conditions are forecast to stick around a little longer, AccuWeather meteorologists say that a warmup is on the horizon.
"The average high temperature...at this point in May usually hovers within one or two degrees of 70, so this extended stretch of chilly weather may come as quite a shock," said AccuWeather Meteorologist Mary Gilbert.
Furthermore, the chilly air is likely to stick around even longer, into the middle of the week.
High temperatures are forecast to remain as much as 10 degrees below normal Monday through Wednesday, prolonging the chill across much of the Northeast.
But when it comes to springtime temperatures, what goes down, must eventually come up.
The air will start to moderate Thursday under a sunnier sky, allowing temperatures to rise a few degrees. Temperatures late in the week and into the weekend will moderate to the mid to upper 60's.
