NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Mayor Bill de Blasio was booed off stage after taking the podium at a George Floyd memorial in Brooklyn, New York on Thursday.

Protesters at the event, hosted by Floyd’s brother, Terrence Floyd, shouted and turned their backs on the mayor as he spoke in Cadman Plaza in front of thousands.

The mayor was introduced by his wife, Chirlane McCray, and was immediately met with chants of “de Blasio go home,” according to WCBS 880’s Peter Haskell.

Some screamed expletives at de Blasio and demanded he be taken off the stage.
