Great White Shark ‘Miss May’ Spotted Near Jersey Shore

CAPE MAY, N.J. (WCBS 880) — A great white shark was tracked off the coast of the Jersey Shore just before the Fourth of July weekend Wednesday.

According to the tracking group OCERCH, the shark, named Miss May, was spotted 10 miles off the coast of Cape May early Tuesday morning, heading north towards the Wildwood and Stone Harbor beaches.

Data collected from the shark’s movements show Miss May traveled over 2,700 miles in 103 days.

According to Miss May’s Twitter page, she is a 10-foot long white shark originally tagged in Mayport, Florida.
