The group said it was the first time it had tracked a white shark in the area.

“I heard sending a ping from the Long Island Sound had never been done before by a white shark...so naturally I had to visit and send one off,” read a post on Cabot’s own Twitter.

According to Cabot’s Twitter page, the 9-foot-8, 553-pound shark was tagged by OCEARCH in Nova Scotia.

Fans can track his movements on OCEARCH’s website.

Unfortunately for WCBS 880’s Wayne Cabot, the great white shark was actually named after the explorer John Cabot.
