NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- One of the gang members found guilty in the murder of Lesandro "Junior" Guzman-Feliz outside a Bronx bodega last summer allegedly attacked a guard at a Manhattan jail on Tuesday night.

Jose Muniz, one of five Trinitarios gang members convicted in the 15-year-old's killing last week, reportedly dislocated the guard's shoulder.

Muniz, who faces life in prison, was being held at the facility while waiting to be transfered to a state prison.

Correction Officers Benevolent Association President Elias Husamudeen said he belongs in a mental health facility, not a detention center.

"He attacked a correction officer. Guess what he said? 'I have nothing to lose.' Why in the hell should he be with us? He should be in one of these Bellevue-like facilities," Husamudeenm said.

It was the second attack on a correction officer in less than 24 hours.

In a separate incident Wednesday morning, multiple reports say a female correction officer was choked by an inmate at Rikers Island.

The correction officers union is calling for more safety measures in city jails.
