NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — This week’s PGA tournament will be a boon for many Airbnb hosts in Nassau County.
Airbnb bookings are up 41 percent in Nassau County compared to this time last year, and spokesperson Liz DeBold Fusco says it’s because of the PGA Championship at Bethpage Black.
"Across Nassau County we're expecting about a little over a thousand guests arrivals which is up from about 700 guest arrivals the same time last year which is a pretty significant spike," she said.
Last year at this time, hosts made about $117,000 but with the PGA, that number will jump to $245,000.
Fusco said, "Last summer, during the U.S. Open, we had hosts telling us that people started booking a year in advance and we know that listings have really filled up very quickly."
