OCEANSIDE, N.Y. (WCBS 880) – In big pink letters on a magnet on the back of Valerie Cincinelli’s car are the words “Oceanside Mom” – but it was inside her two-story, Long Island home that authorities say this NYPD officer plotted to kill her estranged husband and her boyfriend’s teenage daughter.

Cincinelli, 34, wanted the teenager run over and killed, according to court papers.

"It's very sad when you think about it. It really is. I'm really shocked to hear that it's so close to home to my house," one man said.

Danielle lives a few houses down. She told WCBS 880’s Sophia Hall that her daughter had been over at Cincinelli’s house for play dates.

“It makes me sick to know that my daughter was with her, knowing that this is the type of person she is. I feel like a bad mom,” she said.

She says after Cincinelli’s estranged husband moved out, the new boyfriend moved in.

“After her ex-husband left and this new guy moved in, I didn’t let my daughter come over here anymore, but her daughter would still come over,” Danielle said.

Danielle says the police were at the house in February, when Cincinelli is accused of plotting the crime. She says it’s sickening that Cincinelli allegedly wanted to kill a teenager.

“That actually might make me cry. I don’t understand that. What could this little girl have done to you?” she said.

Prosecutors say they have overwhelming evidence that Cincinelli plotted to pay a hitman $7,000 to assassinate her estranged husband and the girl. They say she planned to pay the hitman with gold coins.

Danielle says Cincinelli had spoken to her about her ex-husband, even laughing about her divorce.

“She seemed so normal. I mean I don’t know what happened, if she snapped or something,” Danielle said.

Cincinelli was arrested Friday and is being held without bail.

Cincinelli, who is the mother to a 5-year-old and 10-year-old, had been assigned to the 106th precinct in Howard Beach, but most recently worked with the Viper Unit, which monitors public housing.

She began crying when she faced the judge in a Central Islip federal court on Friday. She faces 10 years in prison if convicted.
