NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — A New Jersey woman who undertook the challenge of a lifetime last week when she joined an interstate relay to raise money and awareness for multiple sclerosis finishes her journey on Friday.

Jamie Woyce on Saturday, began a 188-mile run from Sanbury, Pennsylvania to New York City. At the time, she said she was going to “try to be as positive as possible” to get through the run.

On Friday morning, her journey will end when she crosses the George Washington Bridge and heads to Harlem, completing the final left of the cross-country relay called “MS Runs the U.S.”

On her journey, Woyce has provided inspiration for some and been inspired by others. Over the past six days, she ran 174 miles, an average of 29 per day.

“I had a woman who has multiple sclerosis meet me on the side of Route 57 and ran a couple miles with me,” Woyce told WCBS 880’s Peter Haskell.

She completed the run as a tribute to her sister, Michelle, who has lived with multiple sclerosis for a number of years.

“If we can raise enough awareness and make enough of a scene and raise enough money than hopefully that can lead to a cure for MS,” she said.

MS Runs the U.S. is an annual, 19 segment relay run that stretches 3,260 miles across America. It begins every April in Santa Monica, California and finishes in August in New York City.
