3 Hurt After Car Crashes Into Restaurant's Outdoor Dining Area On UES

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Three people were hurt Monday night when a car crashed into a restaurant's outdoor dining area on the Upper East Side.

The NYPD said two cars collided just before 9:30 p.m. on 92nd Street near 2nd Avenue.

The impact of the crash sent one of the vehicles spinning into the dining setup of an Italian restaurant, Delizia 92.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Two others were treated at the scene.

Curbside outdoor dining remains the only option for restaurants in the city as indoor service remains shutdown because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Mayor Bill de Blasio said during his daily briefing Monday that indoor dining won't be back anytime soon.

"Indoor dining, bars, restaurants, nightclubs have been the nexus for so many of the problems around the world, including some of the resurgence that you're seeing in Europe and in Hong Kong right now," de Blasio said. "So we don't have a specific timeline because there's such sensitivity around that sector."
