NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — The TCS New York City Marathon expo is underway at the Javits Center.
Whether you're a runner, couch potato or somewhere in between, now everybody can experience the thrill of crossing the marathon finish line in the Sprint to Win game, developed by the marathon's title sponsor Tata Consultancy Services.
"You can go head to head. It's on these like 'Dance, Dance Revolution' type mats. The running in place propels the avatars forward," said Michelle Taylor, Tata's head of sports sponsorships. "What's really special about this game is that we've really made it an inclusive experience, so whether you're a runner or a wheeler you can participate."
"And then this year, new as a spinoff, we have this other game on the other side called Marathon City Spin to Win," Taylor said. "So it's a virtual reality experience where you get to experience the TCS New York City Marathon as a wheelchair athlete."
The expo is a runner's dream with every kind of gear you can imagine.
It runs through Saturday.
More than 50,000 runners are expected at Sunday's race, which officials say draws more than 2 million spectators to the 26.2 mile, five borough route.
