NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (WCBS 880) — There's some good news to report about the New Rochelle lawyer who is among the first people in New York diagnosed with the coronavirus.
Lawrence Garbuz's wife writes on Facebook that he is doing much better.
Adina Lewis Garbuz says her husband is "awake and alert" and seems to be on the road to make a full recovery.
"He still has healing to do but is on a very good trajectory," she wrote.
She said her husband is just learning how the outbreak has widened and is struggling to comprehend a world where no one goes out, there are no social gatherings or religious services.
Garbuz has been hospitalized since Feb. 29.
On Wednesday, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that a 39-year-old Manhattan resident who was the state's first confirmed cases has since self-resolved and tested negative. The healthcare worker contracted the virus while in Iran with her husband, who tested negative for the disease.
