NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — The New York Stock Exchange will temporarily move to fully electronic trading on Monday.

The Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. announced that the NYSE trading floors in New York and San Francisco are to close amid the coronavirus pandemic in the United States.

“Trading and regulatory oversight of all NYSE-listed securities will continue without interruption,” the exchange operator said.

The move is meant to protect the health and well-being of employees on the trading floors.

The NYSE said the markets are “fully capable” of operating in an all-electronic fashion.
