NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — This is how New York says, "Thank you."

While the city may look and feel like a ghost town, the Big Apple came alive Friday night in an amazing show of support for those on the front lines of the coronavirus battle.

Residents all across the city took to their windows, balconies and rooftops at 7 p.m. to show their appreciation for all of the doctors, nurses, first responders and other essential workers

The quiet of the night was shattered for two minutes as residents cheered, clapped, whistled, and banged pots and pans to express their gratitude.

From Long Island City to the Upper East Side, here's what it looked and sounded like all across the city.
