Suspects Sought After NYPD Officers Hit With Fire Extinguisher, Radio

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – The NYPD is seeking two men wanted for questioning in connection with an assault on a pair of officers during the mayhem Monday night in Manhattan.

The incident occurred after 9:30 p.m. near the Herald Square area, where many stores including the Macy's flagship were targeted by looters.

Video showed two men attacking the officers as they were trying to take a person into custody for resisting arrest.

One officer was smashed in the back of the head with a fire extinguisher. The other officer was hit in the head with a department radio.

The officer who was struck with the extinguisher was treated at the scene.

The second officer was treated at NYU Langone Hospital for a laceration to the head and concussion.
