KINGS PARK, N.Y. (WCBS 880) — Police are once again stepping up patrols at a former psychiatric center that has been a place for trespassers on Halloween.
As WCBS 880’s Sophia Hall reports, the former Kings Park Psychiatric Center is a place that has been rumored to be haunted for years.
The rumors of ghosts roaming around the abandoned building makes it a location that teenagers and young adults often try to gain access to, in order to see a spirit for themselves.
Halloween has become the most popular day for people to attempt to break into the old hospital, which is why police say they will be watching carefully.
State Parks spokesperson George Gorman said it is crucial that teenager stay away from the building as it is unsafe.
“They have asbestos, they have all the things that you would want not to be exposed to,” he said.
Gorman notes that anyone caught trespassing on the property will be ticketed and jokes that the best was to get a scare on Halloween night is by buying a ticket to a haunted house attraction.
