ALBANY (WCBS 880) — The toll on the former Tappan Zee Bridge will most likely be raised in another year.

The Thruway Authority has proposed increasing the toll on the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge for E-ZPass users to $5.25 by 2021 and $5.75 by 2022.

Those who pay by mail would be hit with a 30% hike as well, plus a $2 surcharge on monthly bills.

The toll for commercial traffic would increase also, with the most common trucks set to pay $55.77 by 2022.

A resident discount for Westchester and Rockland commuters would keep the current E-ZPass toll of $4.75 through 2022.

Some speculated the toll could reach $10 or $15, but Thruway officials said they were able to limit the increase.
