OCEANSIDE, N.Y. (WCBS 880) — Multiple teenagers have been arrested in Nassau County after being accused of taking part in a brawl that left an Oceanside High School student dead.
As WCBS 880’s Sophia Hall reports, the teenagers are all residents of Long Beach and will be arraigned on Saturday morning and most likely will be charged with felony gang assault.
The teenagers are accused of taking part in a large fight on an Oceanside street early last week, during which 18-year-old Tyler Flach was accused of fatally stabbing 16-year-old Khaseen Morris.
Authorities say the college freshman was seen on video with a knife during the brawl shortly before Morris was stabbed multiple times.
Police say the brawl began over a female student at the high school school, who was allegedly involved with Morris after previously dating a friend of Flach.
Flach is currently being held in protective custody behind bars.
Though they are considering charging the teens with gang assault, Hall reports that does not mean they are gang members – it simply means three or more people participated in the assault of another person.
Morris' funeral will be held Saturday.
