NEW YORK (WCBS 880) --  A vigil was held for a 28-year-old cyclist from Brooklyn who was killed after getting hit by a cement truck.Surveillance video shows she tried to get out of the way, but couldn't.Council member Antonio Reynoso says it's time do more to protect bicyclists.

"Are we staying that it takes 15 people to die before we ask people to sumply do their job? Is that the message that  we are trying to send? Reynoso said.

"The people behind me are tire of being sad and they're angry, he added. "We are andry. And we have the right to be."

Our community & city can’t afford another life lost to unsafe streets. @NYCMayor shouldn’t have to issue a memo to get @NYPDnews to do the bare minimum enforcement of traffic & road laws. It’s their job & the difference btwn life & death. pic.twitter.com/RtPgskdGt8

That anger was worsened when two truck drivers from the company involved in the accident, showed up at the vigil to defend the driver.Mourners pointed out that the location where the accident happened in East Williamsburg is not a legal truck route. Police have said the truck driver had the light.
