Shot and a side of fries: NYC, Shake Shack team up for new vaccine incentive

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Mayor Bill de Blasio is giving New Yorkers even more reasons to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

The mayor unveiled two new vaccine incentives at his daily briefing Thursday.

Those who get the shot at a city mobile vaccine clinic can get a voucher for a free Shake Shack burger or sandwich.

CEO Randy Garutti also announced that over the next month, customers who show their vaccination card at any of its 25 locations across the city can get free fries with an order of a burger or sandwich.

"We are so excited, we love this city, we live here, too. And we're going to get back. Get your vax, get your Shack and let's gather up as a community again," Garutti said.

The mayor celebrated the announcement by chowing down on his very own Shake Shack burger and fries at his 10 a.m. news conference.

"If this is appealing to you, just think of this when you think of vaccination," de Blasio said holding up the burger before taking a bite. "Mmm... vaccination."
