WASHINGTON (WCBS 880) — White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany announced Monday that she has tested positive for COVID-19, days after President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were diagnosed with the virus.

"After testing negative consistently, including every day since Thursday, I tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday morning while experiencing no symptoms," McEnany said in a statement posted to Twitter.

McEnany spoke briefly with reporters Sunday evening, but says, "No reporters, producers, or members of the press are listed as close contacts by the White House Medical Unit."

"Moreover, I definitively had no knowledge of Hope Hicks' diagnosis prior to holding a White House press briefing on Thursday," she added. "As an essential worker, I have worked diligently to provide needed information to the American People at this time."

McEnany said she will begin the quarantine process and continue to work remotely.

McEnany is the latest associate of the president to test positive for the virus.

Trump announced early Friday morning that he and the First Lady had been diagnosed with COVID-19, just hours after it was revealed that his top aide, Hicks, had tested positive for the virus.

Over the weekend, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who was part of the president's debate prep team and was also in attendance at the Rose Garden ceremony for the nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court, was hospitalized with the virus. Sens. Thom Tillis and Mike Lee have also tested positive after attending the White House event.
