When Gio asked what Boomer thought the line was for Sunday’s Giants-Commanders game, the Booms thought the G-Men were maybe a 1.5-point favorite.
The opposite actually, as the G-Men were, as of Tuesday morning, a 1.5-point underdog.
“One way or another, it just tells you who people are betting on, or who Vegas is trying to get you to bet on: the Giants as a home dog,” Boomer said.
“They’re also creating the line thinking the Commanders are the better team,” Gio replied. “Sometimes they’re trying to get you to bite on certain things, but I really believe Vegas believes the Commanders are the better team.”
Either way, underdog or favorite, the Commanders’ next two games are against the Giants – they have a bye next week while the Giants play Philadelphia – so this one, as Julian Love later insinuated with Tiki & Tierney, is a must-win for the Giants in Boomer & Gio’s eyes.
“The season starts now, because the Giants have one of the toughest schedules left,” Gio said. “When we were talking about that Lions game at home, we said they had to win because of the schedule, but I feel the same way about the Commanders right now. From what they were earlier in the year to what they are now, this is a very, very difficult game.”
“If you look at the Commanders and when they started winning and the teams they started beating,” Boomer replied, “they should’ve won a lot of those six games in the last seven weeks, where last year they may have lost one or two in that run.”
What really impressed Boomer, though, was how the Commanders fared against the NFC’s top two.
“They lost to Minnesota in a tight game and beat Philadelphia on a Monday night, and that to me is the signature win,” Boomer said. “They’re a good team, and they’ve gotten some breaks, but the Giants should be able to hang with them, and with the Giants getting some reinforcements back, they should be able to put up a fight.”
That said, though, when Gio asked Boomer to pick one or the other to make the playoffs?
“The Commanders, just by the way they’re playing,” Boomer said.
A Commanders win would move them up to the No. 6 spot in the NFC and, depending on the Seahawks’ result against the Rams, could knock the Giants out of a playoff spot as of now, so it is, indeed, crunch time.
