Kayvon Thibodeaux told reporters he was mediating and “visualizing” the Giants comeback on Sunday when asked for context for a viral video that showed him seemingly sulking on the end of the bench while his teammates celebrated a touchdown.
Boomer and Gio didn’t seem to buy that explanation, as Gio said it was a convenient explanation given Deshaun Watson going viral for something very similar the night before Thibodeaux’s comments.
“That’s bullcrap, and here’s why. Nobody heard of this meditation and visualizing on the bench before Deshaun Watson did it on Monday Night Football, on national TV, and everyone was talking about it,” Gio said. “This became a national story about him sitting on the bench and doing his meditation and visualizing with his sports performance team, Troy Aikman think it’s hilarious, it becomes a viral thing, and Kayvon Thibodeaux sees this, speaks to the media, and thinks ‘Hell, I’m gonna use this.’
“It’s a bad visual. I don’t believe that’s what he was doing. I think he was annoyed that he didn’t have any impact on the game at all, and apparently is just a guy who cares a lot about himself. I’m not surprised at all that he was sitting on the bench sulking, and that’s what I believe he was doing.”
Boomer and Gio wondered on Monday if the former fifth overall pick was already in danger of becoming a bust, and Gio won’t buy Thibodeaux’s explanation until there is some actual evidence that his visualizing is turning into results on the field.
“I’ll take his word for it when I see him visualize having three sacks and a forced fumble,” Gio said. “That’s when I’ll believe that his visualizing is working.”
