John Mara told reporters on Monday that he texted Saquon Barkley after he signed with the Eagles to let him know he was “sick” over seeing the lifelong Giant sign with a hated rival.
Gio said Tuesday that if he were Barkley, his response wouldn’t have been kind.
“If I were Saquon and I got that text, I would be like, ‘F you,’” Gio said. “’I’m sorry, but you’re so sick about it? you had every opportunity to sign me and commit to me.’”
Boomer said it was just part of the business of the game, and the Giants simply decided they couldn’t commit that much of their finances to the running back position.
“As much as you may love Saquon Barkley and appreciate everything he’s done for you,” Boomer said. “There is a number that you’re willing to go to to pay him.”
