BT will take the win and run, but he came away from Sunday’s Jets victory feeling less than inspired in the team’s coaching staff, from head coach Robert Saleh to offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.
“I just don’t have much conviction in them at all,” BT said. “They are maddening. How in the world can you come off a bye week and give up 100 yards in penalties again? That’s on Saleh.”
Fans were all over Hackett during Sunday’s game for running consecutive designed pass plays on 3rd-and-1 situations, while armed with Breece Hall as the running back. On one of those third down plays, Hackett went with an empty backfield. To the surprise of nobody, neither resulted in a first down.
For BT, the frustration also stemmed from the conservative play calling that seemed to last until they had no other choice but to allow Zach Wilson to throw it downfield in the final minute of regulation, leading to a game-tying field goal and an eventual overtime win.
“If they’re listening in Florham Park, why don’t you snip this audio up and go and do something about it before it’s too freaking late,” BT said. Throw the ball downfield to start the game! It’s ridiculous! They never come out firing.
“They are so predictable. Come on guys, show some depth to the playbook. Show some innovation.”
