Keith: Knicks dreams of an Eastern Conference Final die if Julius Randle needs surgery

Julius Randle raised some concerns by not ruling out season-ending shoulder surgery, and Keith says if that is the case, New York has no chance of reaching its goals this year.

"If Julius Randle has to get surgery, your dreams are done for the Knicks to go to the Eastern Conference Final or the NBA Finals this year," Keith said. "All of the joy that you had in January and February around your basketball team, that gets deflated because of injuries."

Keith has seen it all too often in New York, as injuries derailed the Yankees last year, have derailed the Devils this year, the Jets last year, and are now plaguing the Knicks in the present. It is something that has to be accounted for, because it has become a frequent occurrence.

"On paper, they don't pencil in a wall at Dodger Stadium, or the turf at MetLife Stadium, or Julius Randle separating his shoulder, or OG Anunoby," Keith said. "We're talking about Sam Howell today because of Aaron Rodgers' injury last year.

"Injuries are something that just doesn't get accounted for enough, and it's a consistent theme throughout all of our teams. These guys are going to get hurt. They're playing at the highest level."
