Knicks have had talks with Clippers about Nerlens Noel trade: Report

UPDATE: The Nets and Raptors have also shown interest in Noel, according to SNY's Ian Begley.

The Knicks dealt away Kemba Walker’s salary to make room for a bigger free agent signing, perhaps Jalen Brunson, and they are reportedly looking to clear away more space by trading away Nerlens Noel.

According to HoopsHype, New York has had “exploratory discussions” with the Clippers about sending the center to Los Angeles, a potential fit for the Clippers given their $9.7 million trade exception earned from trading away Serge Ibaka.

Dealing away Noel, who signed a three-year, $27.7 million deal before last season, could help the Knicks generate nearly $25 million in cap space, per HoopsHype, opening the door to make an even more aggressive run at Brunson, who New York reportedly covets.

Noel was an integral piece of the Knicks’ surprising 2020-21 playoff team, but last year, injuries dominated the narrative, as he appeared in only 25 games and made 11 starts.
