As the Knicks move into third place in the Eastern Conference, Boomer wonders who deserves Coach of the Year honors more than Tom Thibodeau.
"Let's say they finish as the three seed in the East," Boomer said. "Who else is better at Coach of the Year? Given all the injuries he has had and what he's had to deal with in having to find different combinations and getting the most out of their second-team players, if you will."
Oklahoma City's Mark Daigneault seems to be the favorite at this point, while Boston's Joe Mazzulla will get plenty of love. But Gio agrees that Thibodeau deserves his flowers.
"Yeah, there was a stretch when guys were hurt and they were losing games," Gio said. "But other than that, he has found the perfect mix, especially with OG out…just figuring out who works well together…there have been so many years that we say Tom Thibodeau doesn't use the roster in the way we would like to see. Too many minutes here, not enough minutes there."
"I think this year, more than ever, it's like he has learned to become the best coach possible, and he's found the perfect mix with these guys. He deserves so much credit."
