Kodai Senga put up his best performance as a Met on Tuesday night, dazzling the Phillies in a 2-0 win, which not surprisingly came at Citi Field.
Senga now has a dominant 1.20 ERA at home this season, compared to 6.12 on the road. So, with that in mind, Boomer and Gio wonder if the Mets just schedule Senga to only pitch in Queens since they already maneuver the rotation to give Senga extra rest in between starts.
"They should just pitch him at home," Boomer said. "They're trying to pitch him on extra days of rest anyway, so pitch him at home only. That will never happen, but it seems like a pretty simple adjustment."
It doesn't seem like a sustainable strategy, but in the event the Mets are hosting a first-round playoff series, Gio says the rotation would have to be shuffled to get Senga a home start if this trend continues.
"He's got Cy Young type numbers at home and an ERA of like 6.00 on the road," Gio said. "That's something that has to be fixed right away.
"If this continues and you get into the postseason, you better make sure he's pitching at home no matter what."
