Reacting live to the news of Kodai Senga's shoulder strain, BT was not holding out much hope for the outlook for the Mets and their ace with the Rookie of the Year runner-up starting the season on the IL.
"This is not good news," BT said. "I'm not saying it's the most ominous news, but this is bad."
BT says the shoulder is much worse than the elbow, and is expecting Senga to be out a long time upon initial reaction.
"It is February 22. It's not March 22…when it's something small-ish and towards the start of the season, it bothers you because there's not a lot of time to recover, but it's not incredibly bad," BT said. "It's Feb. 22, the [president of baseball operations] felt compelled to hold a live press conference in the dugout the next day at 10 in the morning, and just told you that Kodai Senga will be shut down, and not ready for Opening Day. That is horrible news. Horrible. This is bad.
"I really hope that I'm wrong…I fear he won't be there for a while."
