Sal says the Yankees are no longer in all-in mode now that Gerrit Cole is “compromised,” but BT says the injury to their ace simply means the Yanks need to make another all-in move.
“If Hal doesn’t make a big flex move now,” BT said. “He never will.”
BT wants to see the Yankees bring in Blake Snell or Trevor Bauer, and if the team gets good news on Cole, and 1-2 months remains the expected recovery period, then they would be set to go through the stretch of the season with an even more dangerous rotation. With Juan Soto currently signed for only one year, and Aaron Judge running out of prime years, it’s time for the Yankees to pull out all the stops, even with their ace on the shelf.
“If the circumstances were different, I don’t think you make some crazy pivot…but they have to make a big swing and stabilize this thing,” BT said. “They have to go for it. This current pitching staff isn’t good enough to win.”
