Domingo German was tossed by the same umpiring crew that grilled him about his sticky hand just weeks before, and Gio wonders if these pitchers simply can’t live without the use of a sticky substance to aid their performance.
“Same crew, goes out there, his hand is covered,” Gio said. “You can see his hand. Dirty and covered. You can see his pants. Dirty. What are you doing?
“Is it that they’re so addicted to what the sticky stuff does to the baseball that they can’t help themselves, or are they just that stupid?”
German claimed he was only using rosin after he was ejected on Tuesday, while the umpiring crew chief said it definitely was not rosin, and that it was the worst sticky hand he had seen since the league enforced random checks.
Boomer believes it’s not stupidity from German, and some pitchers just can’t help themselves.
“They’re trying to get an edge. Bottom line,” Boomer said. “It’s amazing German went down this road again, knowing he was gonna be looked at.”
