Jasson Dominguez continued his torrid introduction to the major leagues with a laser home run for his first Yankee Stadium long ball, part of a three-hit night in another Yankee win.
The big night for The Martian capped off a five-game span since being called up in which the 20-year-old accomplished something not seen in the big leagues in at least 120 years.
According to Stathead’s Katie Sharp, Dominguez, at 20 years old, is the youngest player since at least 1901 to hit three or more home runs and log seven or more hits in his first five career games.
Dominguez’s debut has been all the Yankees could have hoped for, as he is hitting .333 with a 1.143 OPS, now getting at-bats in the middle of the Yankee order. Batting third on Wednesday night, Dominguez’s big game helped the Yanks to a fifth straight win, as the team hasn’t lost since he was promoted.
With the help of Dominguez, the Yanks have trimmed their Wild Card deficit to 6.5 games, where it was 11 just a week ago.
