Amid reports that Gerrit Cole has avoided Tommy John surgery, Keith says it’s time for Yankee fans to get out of their rut and get excited for Opening Day.
“I was expecting to hear Cole is shut down, he’s having Tommy John surgery, and his season is compromised and some of next year,” Keith said. “People are losing their minds…they’re saying ‘Nope, season is over, they’re cooked.’ Well, you do you. If you want to be doom and gloom about it…do your thing.”
Cole will still miss 1-2 months, but it seems like the worst-case scenario has been avoided. Keith says fans need to get back to being excited for what could still be a special season.
“We’re gonna have a good time. 82-80 is a thing of the past,” Keith said. “Juan Soto is a Yankee now. There are plenty of guys that will step up.”
