Keith was live on the air when news broke that Alex Verdugo was traded to the Yankees, and while he wasn’t mad at what the Yanks had to give up, he didn’t like the idea of Verdugo in pinstripes at all.
“Ew! Ew!” Keith said. “OK, I’m fine with the people they gave up. Ew. I don’t link Verdugo.
“He’s gonna have to shave that beard. He’s only gonna be able to wear one gold chain with the Yankees. He isn’t gonna be able to wear 99.”
Keith was just relieved that it didn’t cost the Yankees Gleyber Torres, but for Verdugo himself, while he does serve a role, he doesn’t like the optics.
“You need outfield depth. You can’t do what you did last year and play eight different people in the outfield,” Keith said. “He’s a depth piece. It’s Dec. 5. There’s gotta be more. You don’t stop there.
“He’s an outfielder, he’s left handed. I’m not a big fan of the guy, but I think he will be a decent player. I hope he wants to be a Yankee, and there’s not too much Red Sox in his blood.”
