A mother and baby are recovering after emergency responders who just happened to be in the area rescued them from a house fire in Andover this morning.
Authorities say the two were trapped inside their home on Navajo Street Northwest as it became engulfed in flames around 7am.
Crews used a ladder from the garage to go in through a bedroom window and get them out safely.
Andover Fire Chief Dennis Jones speaking with WCCO-TV
" She was alert, oriented, and conscious," Jones said of the mother, " the baby was breathing and really it was just a little baby."
Mother and baby were last reported in stable condition at Mercy Hospital.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
