Cleanup continues at the Renaissance Festival grounds in Shakopee where multiple buildings caught fire Thursday night.

The fire was first called in about 6:00 p.m., and it took crews several hours to douse the flames because of the lack of a water supply in the area.

"We're still here, we will still be opening in August, we love everybody who is reaching out and checking in, and wants to know what's happening," the festival's Stephanie Whipp told WCCO television.

"We're going to keep everybody in the loop as we hear things," she said.

Officials say about six of the booths at the site were destroyed by the fire.

There are more than 300 boths at the festival grounds.

It's not known what caused the fire, which began when lightning storms were moving through the area.

Crews from 12 area fire departments were able to put out the fire.

There were no injuries reported.

The Renaissance Festival operates for six weekends just before fall, the 2025 opening scheduled for August 16.
